Asma ul Husna Quran Source Index: Reviewed Names From Quranic Passages
A source-index page for selected Names of Allah in Quranic passages, with Arabic names, transliteration, meaning notes and publication boundaries.

Scope
Selected Quran-linked names
Rows
13 reviewed starter entries
Core passages
Quran 17:110, 20:8, 59:22-24
Boundary
Source index, not a final 99-name list
This index is not a copied 99-name poster. It is a Quran-source index for selected Names of Allah that appear in clear Quranic passages, especially Quran 17:110, 20:8 and 59:22-24.
A source index is useful because readers often meet the names through lists, images or apps without knowing where a particular name is anchored. This page keeps the Arabic name, transliteration, short meaning note and source reference together.
Meaning notes are deliberately short. The names are devotional and theological, so one English, Chinese or Uyghur phrase cannot exhaust the meaning. A good resource should help readers start accurately, not pretend to finish the subject.
Future additions should use the same pattern: source passage first, Arabic spelling second, transliteration third, language review fourth. A complete 99-name page should grow from reviewed rows, not from an unverified copied list.
Reviewed Quranic Name Sources
| Source | Arabic name | Transliteration | Meaning note | Source note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Quran 20:8; Quran 17:110 | اللَّه | Allah | The proper name of God; not a generic label to translate loosely. | Keep Arabic name and transliteration together. |
| Quran 17:110; Quran 59:22 | الرَّحْمَٰن | Ar-Rahman | A name pointing to vast and encompassing mercy. | Explain with reverence; avoid one flat equivalent. |
| Quran 59:22 | الرَّحِيم | Ar-Rahim | A name of mercy, often discussed with Ar-Rahman while keeping its own nuance. | Do not treat Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim as identical. |
| Quran 59:23 | الْمَلِك | Al-Malik | The Sovereign King and Owner; broader than political kingship. | Use a short meaning plus explanatory note. |
| Quran 59:23 | الْقُدُّوس | Al-Quddus | The Holy and Perfectly Pure; translation needs reverent wording. | Avoid casual synonyms. |
| Quran 59:23 | السَّلَام | As-Salam | The Source of peace and perfection; not merely the greeting of peace. | Distinguish the divine name from everyday greeting. |
| Quran 59:23 | الْمُؤْمِن | Al-Mu'min | The Granter of security and faith; the note should avoid narrow political meanings. | Keep source context visible. |
| Quran 59:23 | الْمُهَيْمِن | Al-Muhaymin | The Guardian and Overseer; a short note should not flatten the theological sense. | Needs explanatory wording in every language. |
| Quran 59:23; Quran 59:24 | الْعَزِيز | Al-Aziz | The Almighty and Mighty; translation should carry strength without harshness. | Appears in the source cluster around 59:23-24. |
| Quran 59:23 | الْجَبَّار | Al-Jabbar | The Compeller and Restorer; needs careful explanation to avoid crude wording. | Do not translate mechanically. |
| Quran 59:24 | الْخَالِق | Al-Khaliq | The Creator; explain as divine creation, not ordinary making. | Bind to Quran 59:24 before variants. |
| Quran 59:24 | الْبَارِئ | Al-Bari | The Originator and Maker; should be explained beside Al-Khaliq without merging them. | Keep distinct from adjacent names. |
| Quran 59:24 | الْمُصَوِّر | Al-Musawwir | The Fashioner who gives form; needs explanation beyond a single English word. | Keep spelling, transliteration and meaning note together. |
FAQ
Is this the complete list of the 99 names?
No. This is a source index for selected Quran-linked names. A complete page should grow only from reviewed rows.
Why keep transliteration?
It helps readers search and compare spellings, but it does not replace learning Arabic pronunciation.
